Hello! I am Jaya Viswanathan, a neuroscientist, engineer, and artist born and raised in India. I am passionate about understanding how the brain works, so after graduating as an engineer, I pursued a Masters in Neuroscience followed by a Doctorate in Cognitive Neuroscience. I then worked as a post-doctoral fellow for 4 years at the University of Maryland studying the neural mechanisms of auditory and speech perception in noisy environments. I then joined the Division of Neuroscience at the National Institute on Aging as a Kelly Government Program Analyst. In my free time, I volunteer as a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) educator I fell in love with art while pursuing my Doctoral degree. When I am not working or painting or exhibiting my art, you can find me reading, writing, or podcasting (Know Brainer).
I have published several peer reviewed research papers and presented at various conferences. Find a list of my scientific publications and read more about neuroscience research! You can also invite me to speak or guest lecture in your class or event!
